Get-fund Project Left To Rot

A get Fund project led by the Formal Minister of parliament of Kwaebibirem municipal Hon. Ohemeng Teyase has been left to rot. The project was started in the late month of 2020, the work started in a high construction speed during that year.

According to investigations, the project which was a three classroom block and a two office for the Abaam Roman Catholic school was to be completed before that same year ends but from that year up till this year 2022 nothing good has come out of the project. The most unbearable aspect is that, this building has reach the lengthen stage and has a gable. The only thing left is roofing, wiring and woodwork for the students to start class in them.

Now students in the JHS section have a poor construction classroom and an under tree staff room which makes class difficult and teaching work very tedious for teachers in this school. Even According to the head teacher, when it rains the pupil of the school can stay in the old building because of the nature of it. He then plead to the General Director of get Fund projects to come to their aid to help complete the project.

We asked about what the current MP has said and the actions he is taking to help solve the case but according to them the MP for the Kade constituency Hon. Alexander Agare has not even show up to say a word about the left to rot classroom building. We don’t even know if he his aware of the project.

Teacher In Court Over Forgery, Theft Of School Welfare Funds

The accused has been admitted to bail of 60,000 cedis with three sureties

Ebenezer Hammond, a teacher, has appeared before an Adenta Circuit Court for misappropriating GHC 8,900 belonging to a school welfare association.

Hammond is said to have forged signatures of two members of the association on three cheques to withdraw the amount from the National Investment Bank.

He pleaded not guilty for forgery of other documents and three counts of stealing.

The court, presided over by Mrs Sedinam Awo Balokah, admitted Hammond to bail in the sum of GHC 60,000 with three sureties.

The court ordered prosecution to file disclosures.

The matter has been adjourned to February 24.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Jacob Nyarko said the complainant (name withheld) was the headmistress of a school complex at Frafraha, whiles the accused person, was a former teacher and a secretary of the School’s Welfare Association.

Chief inspector Nyarko said the Association opened an account with the National Investment Bank (NIB), Adenta branch, and had three signatories – the chairperson being the complainant, a treasurer, a witness in the case and the accused person.

The prosecution said the accused person was mandated to cash monies from the Association’s account at the bank and that anytime the Association needed money, all the signatories would have to endorse the cheque.

It said the accused person took advantage of that and “learned how to sign the signatures of his two colleagues.”

The prosecution said on March 16, 2018, the accused person allegedly went to NIB and ordered for new cheque book in the name of the Association.

It said Hammond allegedly took three cheque leaflets and forged the signatures of his two colleagues on each of the cheque leaflets and succeeded in withdrawing GHC5,000 on March 16, 2018, GHC2,500 on April 4, 208 and GHC1,400 on April 12, 2018, from the Association’s account.

In July 2018, the prosecution said the complainant requested for a statement of the Association and detected the theft.

It said the matter was reported to the Police and during investigations the accused person admitted that he forged the signatures of his other signatories on the three cheque leaflets and succeeded in withdrawing the money.

The prosecution said the accused pleaded for time to refund the money but failed.
